The Norwegian government has hit pause on its plans to mine the deep sea for minerals—a major win for our ocean and for the growing global movement to stop deep-sea mining! As Norway pushed to open its seabed to destructive mining, opposition swelled not just within Norway but worldwide. Earlier this year, the European Parliament decisively opposed Norway’s plans to mine the Arctic seabed. The Ocean and Us was among those urging Members of Parliament to reject these destructive plans.
