Brian Eno, Earth Percent
Brian Eno is a renowned musician, producer, visual artist, and activist. He gained fame in the early seventies with Roxy Music and later with solo albums and collaborations. His work as a producer includes albums with Talking Heads, Devo, U2, Laurie Anderson, and Coldplay, along with collaborations with artists like David Bowie, David Byrne, and Fred Again. His latest album, FOREVERANDEVERNOMORE, was released in October 2022. Eno's visual art, including light and video installations, has been exhibited globally in venues such as the Sydney Opera House and Beijing's Ritan Park. He is a founding member of the Long Now Foundation and a patron of Videre est Credere. His deep commitment to the planet is evident through his role as a trustee of Client Earth and the launch of EarthPercent in 2021, which raises money from the music industry for some of the most impactful environmental charities working on the climate emergency. In 2023, Brian was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement by the Venice Biennale Musica. In January 2024, Eno, a generative documentary about the artist’s life, was screened at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim. “The Ocean Hope Expedition is an amazing project and is key to our ongoing commitment to protecting the planet's most vital ecosystems. Farah's courage and determination to stop deep-sea mining have greatly inspired me - it shows what single individuals and small groups of people are capable of. While science necessarily emphasizes objective data, we need to bridge the gap between science and human feelings by recognising the power and beauty of the oceans - and we can do this through music and art. By supporting this initiative, we are investing in both the health of our oceans and the emotional connections necessary to create a sustainable future." - Brian Eno |
Rosalin Kuiper, Team Holcim PRB,
currently preparing for The Ocean Race Europe 2025 Rosalin began sailing at age six on an Optimist near her hometown of Zoetermeer. In her youth, she competed nationally in athletics before switching to field hockey. Her passion for sailing was reignited at 18 during a solo trip to Australia, leading her to her first job as a deckhand and later joining the Youth Sailing Academy under former Volvo Ocean Race skipper Roy Heiner. Since then, Rosalin has competed in iconic races like the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, The Fastnet Race, and the Caribbean 600, collaborating with numerous sailing champions. She sailed on the Volvo 65 AkzoNobel during The Ocean Race Europe 2021 and competed in The Ocean Race 2023. Rosalin joined Team Holcim-PRB in 2023 to gain offshore sailing experience, with the goal of leading the Swiss team in The Ocean Race Europe in 2025. Beyond sailing, Rosalin holds a master's degree in psychology, specializing in sports psychology and group dynamics. An advocate for ocean protection, she is deeply committed to preserving marine ecosystems and incorporates this passion into her sailing endeavors. “I truly believe that deep-sea mining will be devastating for our Ocean. As a professional sailor, I have spent countless days at sea, competing in ocean races around the world and I feel strongly connected to the Ocean. They are the lungs of the planet and every second breath we take comes from it. We must keep the ocean healthy, and this means not opening it up to deep-sea mining. Not only will deep-sea mining destroy life in the ocean, but it will also release the carbon dioxide that is stored in the seabed. To me, it is unthinkable to allow deep-sea mining to happen and that is why I want to give the Ocean a voice and why I support The Ocean and Us.” Rosalin Kuiper |
Donna Grantis, The humanNATURE Project
Donna Grantis is an acclaimed Canadian artist and musician. From 2012-16, she performed and recorded with music icon Prince as the co-lead guitarist in his funk-rock trio 3RDEYEGIRL and supergroup New Power Generation. Grantis composed the title track to 3RDEYEGIRL’s 2014 release, PLECTRUMELECTRUM, which reached #1 on the Billboard Rock Chart. Grantis is passionate about music as a force for social change. Her current creative endeavour – The humanNATURE Project – fuses art and activism, bringing world-renowned musicians together with environmental leaders and the sounds of Nature itself – whales, coral reefs, trees, glaciers, insects, wild spaces, birds and other species. In partnership with EarthPercent, Grantis gratefully credits “The Earth” as a co-writer of music she creates. Earlier this year, she participated in the launch of Sounds Right, a groundbreaking music initiative to establish Nature as an official artist on streaming platforms. Developed by The Museum for the United Nations – UN Live, in partnership with The Listening Planet, VozTerra, and a broad coalition of creative and institutional partners, the initiative aims to spark a global conversation about the value of nature and support millions of music fans to take meaningful action to protect the planet. “The health of the ocean is deeply interconnected with the health and well-being of all life on Earth. Beyond its beauty and the abundance of life and biodiversity it supports, the ocean creates roughly half the oxygen we breathe, and it helps to stabilize the climate as the world’s largest carbon reservoir. I support The Ocean Hope Expedition, which seeks to build awareness around the importance of banning deep-sea mining before it starts. In 2025, The International Seabed Authority will decide if it will allow or reject this destructive practice. The ISA has an opportunity to reflect values rooted in love and respect for the natural world – which includes our own prosperity and that of future generations.” Donna Gratis |
