The statutes for The Ocean and Us (TOAU) determine the following:
Stichting The Ocean and Us accepts funds from private donations, including philanthropic institutions, foundations, government subsidies and from certain corporations. TOAU will review all major donations based on the nature and activities of the corporation to ensure independence and alignment with TOAU basic values. This will be done on a case-by-case basis.
In the event that The Ocean and Us should cease to exist all existing funds will be directed to a similar cause.
- Board members are not entitled to a salary;
- Board members are entitled to reimbursement for expenses incurred as a result of activities associated with TOAU in their capacity as board members;
- If the financial situation allows and if the Board should decide to do so, board members may be entitled to a reasonable honorarium for certain activities.

How is funding used?
All funds received by Stichting The Ocean and Us will exclusively be used for supporting the activities of The Ocean and Us. Specifically, funds will be used for:

Our mission is protect the ocean. To be successful we believe that we must embrace our human diversity and elevate the feminine perspective in the ocean space. To do so we endeavour to undertake the following (contingent upon funding):

Campaigning
on pertinent ocean issues such as deep-sea mining, overfishing and climate change. Representation at major international forums dedicated to ocean protection and governance. Organization and role out of events around the world dedicated to the ocean as well as elevating the feminine perspective. These events provide networking opportunities, information sharing and confidence building. |
Mentoring, skill shares and workshops
through partnerships with other organisations such as the EU WIN-BIG project. Maintenance and development of the online platform where women around the world can share their work, expertise and interests. This is a searchable platform that connects women according to interests, themes and geographies. Communication materials for the above and for the overall mission of The Ocean and Us including documentaries. |
